The histories of martial arts are traced back thousands of
years. Their origins can be traced back to the beginning of mankind. Throughout
time, the martial arts have been passed on in an endless array of flowing
channels. Martial arts passed from family member to family member, master to
disciple, instructor to student and so on. Its benefits are limitless, limited
only by the boundaries we put on them. However, over time the true benefits of
the martial arts have become endangered. Martial arts is a way of life. It is
living life with a sincere and serious attitude.
The physical side of forms and techniques have become the forefront of martial
arts training. The physical aspects of the martial arts are a valuable tool, but
it is the mental aspects that are the foundation. Mental aspects include
consideration, courtesy, a positive attitude, respect, confidence,
concentration, good judgment, morality, integrity, modesty, purity, and wisdom.
It is characteristics like these that are the true benefits of the martial arts.
Power in the martial arts is not the number of techniques in a style or the
dominance of one style over another. Martial arts power is harmony and balance.
It is being a humble person, who strives to improve the overall quality of life.
It is the goal of The National Commission of Traditional
Martial Arts & The National Commission for Certification of Traditional
Martial Arts to spread the true benefits of the martial arts to all people. The
greatest benefits are not the ones that are most easily recognized, nor are they
the ones easily realized. The benefits of martial arts are priceless. They are a
treasure that we should all work to develop and maintain. Change is inevitable.
However, the true benefits of the martial arts remain. It is the purpose of
these
organizations to promote these benefits to all people and preserve the true
spirit of the martial arts.

"A leading national
martial arts organization promoting a healthy, safe environment in martial
arts education for the public"
Our purpose is to improve
traditional martial arts for higher education and protect people in the
public by providing a safe learning environment. Many styles of martial
arts exist. Schools teach each style independently and each has its own
distinct philosophies. An escalating concern exists regarding public
health. There are many reasons to be concerned for our health. The spread
of infections related to bacteria or viruses is a major concern. Many
health conditions are present that poses a threat to a healthy martial
arts environment. Today's world brings us a new area of concern in the
martial arts, the importance of hygiene.
It is important to have
knowledge regarding health risk associated with teaching and practicing
the martial arts. The nature of martial arts training requires close
physical contact and this poses a potential threat for the martial art
student. A safe, clean, professional atmosphere is essential. Health is
the most important aspect of martial arts. If we want to maximize our
health, then we must increase our knowledge of health. The purpose of this
organization is to help spread the "right way" of the martial arts. This
is to educate and develop the martial arts and bring its countless
benefits to the world. Furthermore, this organization will help develop
relationships among all peoples. We should all work together to bring the
martial arts up to their intended high standards and bring peace to all
people throughout the world.
